Winnie “Luetta” Spraggins 89, of West Point, Georgia, passed away peacefully in the care of her family on April 16, 2025.
A memorial service will be held at West Point Cemetery on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at 11 a.m.
Luetta was born on December 11, 1935 to Winnie and Olin Spradlin. To know her was to love her… whether you were just popping in for a minute or staying the weekend, she was going to make sure you had a full plate and a big glass of sweet tea. Luetta loved her family more than anything and would go out of her way to make sure they were taken care of, no matter the cost. After retiring from the textile mill she spent her time taking care of her grandchildren, playing video games and fussing with her best friend and sister in law, Cindy Alford. She was a fierce woman that stood her ground and was sure to pass that same energy down through the generations.
“Nanny” to her family (related or not) was preceded in death by both of her parents, brother Jack Spradlin, and her husband, Robert Lee Spraggins, along with their sons, Terry, Barry, Olin, and great-grand daughter Sadie Jennings. She is survived by her son, Lamar Spraggins (Jane), daughter in law, Rhonda Davis (Billy Wayne), and her grandchildren: Brandy Milford, Melissa Copeland, Whitney Jennings (Chase), Kendall Yates (Eric), Kerry Harrelson, Nick Spraggins, Zack Spraggins (Hannah), Mallory McDiarmid (Justin), and Kayla Harrelson-Beck(Robert). Great-grandchildren: Britley Thrower (Dalton), Maciah, Brooklyn, Jalyn, Rylie, Jaden, Levi, Sesylee, Grace, Chloe, Emily, Grayson, Dixon, Gunner, Shade, and Bodhi. Great, great-grand children: Baxton, Sydnee and Bennett and brother: James Spradlin.
Her memory will forever live on within her immediately family, extended family of nieces and nephews (including greats and great, greats), friends and community. As we share in stories and lessons learned, we can all smile knowing that Nanny will always be with us.
If you would like to send flowers, the family has asked that you send a live plant that can be kept “in remembrance of” to Valley Point Funeral Home in Lanett, Alabama.

Nanny Lou, oh how I adored you. You were my partner in crime. The only person I'd talk to on the phone for an hour. You put everyone before yourself. You taught me to forgive people and love them anyway. I'm sorry you endured so much pain on earth. I'll miss you more than anything. Thank you for all the love and laughs. Our hearts are broken but I'll try to be strong like you.
Your Lissa
I've known Luetta for many years, Olin and Barry grew up and ran with my Brother Donald AKA Duck in their years together and all of them taken to soon. I've worked with Luetta at Chalk-Line and other textile sewing. She was a very kind person and loved her family with a force. She will be missed but the reunion she's having in heaven will her loved ones has to be grand. Prayers to her family.
I love you Nanny. I will miss laughing at you getting agitated, and the phone calls telling me to come try some recipe you found on Facebook. I'm sorry for not wanting to come in your house when I was younger, after you picked me and Brit up off of the school bus😆 You told me you didn't care if I came in or not, and could melt outside for all you care. So many memories I'll cherish forever.
I love you my Nanny Lu!! We will miss you always. Until we meet again someday, continue to watch over our family! Psalms 61:2 💔🙏🏼
My Nanny Lou, thank you for raising me and being my mama my entire life, I'm thankful I got to take care of you the way you did me! My family is thankful that I can cook like you, thank you for that! I'm at peace knowing you had a beautiful reunion with all our loved ones in heaven! I hope my Sadie ran to you with arms wide open! Until we meet again I love you the most! 💚
