We respectfully announce the passing of Mr. Larry Scott, age 69, of LaGrange, Georgia on Monday, December 20, 2021 at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center.
Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, December 27, 2021 at Meadoway Gardens Cemetery located at 3293 Hamilton Road, LaGrange, Georgia 30241. Pastor Lonnie Walls (Smyrna Baptist Church), Eulogist.
Public viewing will be held Sunday from 12:00 Noon until 6:00 PM.
Due to COVID-19 concerns everyone in attendance must wear a mask and social distancing is encouraged.
Larry Scott, the son of the late George Scott Jr. and Louise Robinson Scott, passed away on Monday, December 20th, 2021 at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center. Larry was a lifelong resident of LaGrange, Georgia, and was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church. He graduated from Troup High School in 1972. After graduation, he entered the workforce then served in the US Army. After serving in the military, he went on to receive a diploma in Textile Technology from West Georgia Tech (formally Troup Tech). Soon after, he met the love of his life Willie Mae Rhodes Scott and they married in June 1982. Their union brought forth three children. During his life, he worked various textile jobs including Milliken Mills and KleenTex. He enjoyed a career as a graphic artist. He had a talent for drawing and enjoyed restoring furniture as a hobby. He also enjoyed watching sports and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his brother Marvin Scott, sister Mary L. (Emmitt) Trice, and brother-in-law Jeffrey Terrell, along with aunts and uncles.
Larry is survived by his wife of 39 years and their three children: Cicily (Carlos) Matthews of Newnan, GA; LaToya (Anthony) Burnette of Stockbridge, GA; and Taurus (Tia) Scott of San Diego, CA. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Michael, Yohance, and Madison Matthews of Newnan, GA; Taurus Scott Jr. of San Diego, CA; Taj, Tai, and Tae Burnette of Stockbridge, GA. He has one brother George Scott III of LaGrange, GA. Sister in laws Nicole Ford, Lisa Terrell, Robin Ford, Mary Scott, Cora Scott, Cynthia (UnRicky) Parks, and Stacey (Johnny) Jackson. Brother in laws Alfred Herndon, Duke (Tiffany) Ford, Tim Ford, Forrest (Tracey) Terrell, Toney (Linda) Rhodes, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
