Ms. Debbie Benita Lowe was born to the late Vera Jane Lakes and Mason Hall in Hogansville, Georgia on September 30th, 1961. She was raised in an extended family surrounded by her grandmother, aunts, and uncles, at times, along with four younger siblings. Debbie received her early religious training and accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at Hill Chapel United Methodist Church (later called Plainview Community Church).
Debbie received her early education through Hogansville public schools, and later moved to Decatur, where she graduated from East Atlanta High School. Despite leaving her original Hogansville classmates for a period, she remained affectionately connected and endeared with them. As a young lady, she mothered two wonderful children, Donte R. Lowe and Georgette Keonte Jones, who she showered with love.
Over the years, Debbie worked in the restaurant, hospitality, and manufacturing industries. Notably, she worked at the famous Varsity Restaurant and the Peachtree Plaza Hotel in Atlanta. She later returned to Hogansville, where she worked at Fabric Design, Inc., Botex, Inc, Industrial Specialty Fabric, Inc., and Inflation, Inc in Troup County, where she served as lead, trainer, or supervisor. After experiencing an injury, she withdrew from employment. Debbie’s life will be remembered by her closest friends and family, as filled with joy, and living life to the fullest. Her times with cousin-best friends, Pamela Strong-Hill, Marina Bostic-Robertson, Jimmy Tigner, and special high school classmates forever served as a source of great memories. In the late 1980s, she was member of The Purple Rain Social Club, where she along with other women organized social events, traveled, and attended conventions. Debbie loved to read and had a special talent with children in family and community. She often made herself available as a “Special Auntie” for many by helping with their homework, baby-sitting, or just teaching life lessons. In our family, she was central and often called her the “ideal person”. From these ideals, she was always prepared to step-in, help-out, cook, and coach a young person willing to learn during major family gathering. On October 15th, after a lifetime of loving and being loved, she was called home by our Lord to take her heavenly place among our ancestral elders at WellStar West Georgia Medical Center in Lagrange. Debbie was preceded in death by her mother and only son.
She is survived by a daughter, Georgette (Roderick) Jones-Levi of Atlanta; four grandchildren, G’Aja Beasley and Donte Shepard Lagrange; Kadrian Jones, and Jonathan Jones of Atlanta; and her father Mason Hall of Atlanta. She is also survived by two sisters, Angela Lowe-Davis of Hogansville, GA and Shelia Laird of Stockbridge GA: six brothers Tony (Bevely) Lowe of metro Atlanta GA, Frederick (Teresa) Lowe and Cedric (Catrena) Lowe of Lagrange GA, and Roderic Hall, Michael Hall, and Garrick Hall of Atlanta GA and three aunts, Lizzie (Thomas) Lakes-Hancock of Decatur, GA, Patricia Beasley-Grier of Lagrange, and Diane Beasley-Parham of Covington, GA.
