Mary Yen-Mi Jackson was born in Cho Lon Vietnam on February 6,1948 to the late Mrs. Chau Lai Hue and Mr. Myong An. She was preceded in death by her only sibling, older sister Mrs. Ma Wan Chi Mei. Mary was a remarkable woman who embraced life with a joyful spirit. She found immense joy in education, her hobbies and spent countless hours engrossed in her favorite pastimes. She had a competitive spirit, relishing in the excitement of playing BINGO and card games (Mahjong, Pinochle, Bid Wiz, Spades and Poker) with her family and friends. Mary was a master seamstress, who also skillfully crocheted and knitted many beautiful creations, leaving behind tangible reminders of her craftsmanship and care. An enthusiastic Epicurean, she delighted in exploring the world of delicious cuisines and appreciated the flavors and aromas of various dishes. Mary was the proud owner of a Cessna 310 and took extreme pleasure in soaring the bright blue skies after obtaining her pilot’s license. The pride of her life was her 58-year marriage to her beloved husband, TSgt Walter D Jackson Jr, USAF Retired, and their two children: one daughter and one son.
Mrs. Jackson was a supportive military spouse for over 20 years. She accompanied her husband on various tours of duty, and when he was away on military assignments, she took care of her family and the home front. These precious times together were filled with love, laughter, and the bonds that time could never sever. In her presence, Mary exuded a radiant warmth that touched the lives of all who were fortunate to know her. Her love knew no bounds, and her kindness knew no limits. She will be remembered as a pillar of strength and a source of unwavering support for her family.
Mary leaves to cherish her memories: her loving and devoted husband, Walter D Jackson Jr; daughter, Marian M Hood (Lester), Columbus, GA; son, Walter “Donnie” Jackson III (Jill), Shelby Township, MI; seven beautiful granddaughters: Ashlee M Haley, Stone Mountain, GA; Alexandria M Lawrence (Earl), Lithia Springs, GA; Adrianna M Adams (Kortney), Dallas, GA; Reagan Jackson, Shelby Township, MI; Myless S Chambers (Jamel) and Kelvy N Hood, Columbus, GA; Camryn O Hood, Phenix City, AL; one handsome grandson, Tommy Jackson, Shelby Township, MI; three brothers-in-law: James Jackson, San Jose, CA; Levester Jackson and Reginald Jackson (Nancy), Columbus, OH; eight wonderful great grandchildren: Ava, Eli, Drew, Aria, Alannah, Kali, Clay and Gabriel; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who were blessed to have known her affectionate embrace and hear her gentle words of wisdom.
Though Mary's physical presence may be gone, her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her. May her soul find eternal peace, and may her memory bring solace and comfort to all who mourn her loss. "Those we love don't go away; they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed, and very dear."
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the ASPCA in her memory.
