Mrs. Gertrude Comer Thomas transitioned home Monday at Piedmont Regional Medical Center. She was 66 years of age.
The daughter of the late Charlie and Gertrude Davis Comer, Mrs. Thomas was born in Phenix City, AL and was a former member of Macedonia Baptist Church. She served for many years caring for the Brine and Lapp Families of Columbus.
Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Nathaniel Thomas; three brothers, Robert L. Davis, John Comer, Jr. and George Comer; two sisters, Susie Carter and Mamie D. Smith. Surviving her departure with cherished memories, include: her loving and devoted daughter, Rachel Thomas-Anukwu (Emmanuel), four grandchildren, Rachelle Thomas, Rashad Thomas (Shandora), Ramone Thomas (Amber) and Ruby Pearson; one brother, Charlie Comer; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to include, Mary L. Johnson.
The Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Thomas will be held Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 3:00 p.m., grave- side at Green Acres Cemetery with Minister Ramona Wright officiating.
The visitation will be Friday, 5 til 7 P.M. at the funeral home
