Douglas DeMarcos Cromartie passed away Monday at his home at the age of 46.
A native of Columbus and the son of Mr. Edon Cromartie(Gloria) and the late Annie Lee Johnson Cromartie, Douglas was a 1994 graduate of Kendrick High School. He attended and received his Associates Degree from Lincoln Technical College in Atlanta. Currently he was employed by the Muscogee County School District, serving as an Assistant Basketball Coach at William H. Spencer High School. A former Catholic, he attended Holsey Chapel C.M.E. Church. Douglas was a man that wore many hats and was a lover of Cartoon socks!
Other than his father, he is survived by a devoted wife, Mrs. Edith George Cromartie; nine loving children, Donnovan, Markavion, Ikeem, Khora, LaShayla, Aja, Quaneshia, Kaylin and Dariel; six adorable grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Cynthia George; three sisters-in-law, Tonya Robinson(Johnny), Samantha Brewer(Terry) and Ophelia George; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life for Douglas will be conducted Friday, April 1, 2022 at Eleven O'clock AM in the Chapel of Progressive Funeral Home, Inc. Rev. Dr. Peggy Myles will officiate. Service will be live-streamed (see clickable link below)
Visitation will be from 3:00 til 5:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.

Doug was an amazing soul and he love of service was unmatched. It was a pleasure working with him in the therapeutic recreation program and Special Olympics. He will greatly be missed by all those who he has impacted. Prayers to his wife and kidsβ€οΈ
