Mr. Ronald “Ron” Erskine Lee, Sr. entered into eternal rest on Friday, March 7, 2025, in Columbus, Georgia. Ron was born September 3, 1950, the fourth son of the late Jethro Lee Sr. and Dottie Tolin Lee. Ronald was preceded in death by three brothers, Mark Anthony, Oscar James, and Melvin Tolin.
A quiet, easy going, cerebral man, Ron was a graduate of the former Lanier High School where he excelled in football. Upon graduation, he attended Alabama A&M University on a football scholarship. After serving in the United States Army, Ron returned to the valley community and went to Opelika Technical College, earning a certification in electronics. Most of his working career was spent at Uniroyal Goodrich Tire Manufacturing in Opelika, Alabama and the West Point Pepperell Manufacturing. Ron enjoyed an incredibly competitive spirit, and he specifically cheered for the Atlanta Braves and Atlanta Falcons, Alabama football and the Tide, and attending automobile drag racing, a love he shared with his brother Melvin. Ron especially loved family gatherings including challenging his son Ronnie as to who could make the best barbecue. It mattered least who won because Ron always claimed his was the best food.
Ronald joined Goodsell United Methodist Church at an early age, attending faithfully with his father and brothers. He leaves to forever cherish his memories two sons, Ronald II (Erica) and Donald Lee, four grandchildren, Joshua, Ronald III, Kennedy, Skylar and one great grandson, Zayden; a brother, Jethro Lee, Jr. (Betty) Mitchellville, Maryland; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and special friends.
