Obituary For L.C. “Bo” Combs, Sr.

L.C. "Bo" Combs, Sr. was born on October 13, 1937 to the parentage of the late Clarence Combs and Essie Mae Phillips. He departed this life on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at EAMC Lanier in Valley, AL.

L.C. accepted Christ at an early age and joined Ebenezer Baptist Church in Lanett, AL. He served faithfully until his health declined. He took great pride in caring for the church, ensuring it was clean, and secure by locking and unlocking the doors.

"Bo" ,as he was affectionately known, was employed with West Point Stevens until he retired. He enjoyed cutting grass, fishing, grilling, baking cakes, and making homemade stew & wine. He enjoyed having cookouts and inviting family & friends over.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Warren "Shawn" Smith and siblings, Essie Dell Phillips, James Phillips, Willie C. Phillips, Doris Phillips William Phillips, Marie Phillips and David Phillips.

(Vickie) Combs, Jr. of Roanoke, AL, Walter B.(Cindy) Combs of Huntsville, AL, Robert Combs of LaFayette, AL, Sandra Faye (Larry) Strickland of LaFayette, AL, Darrell (Angie) Combs of LaFayette, AL, and Gregory (Detra) Combs of Roanoke, AL; four sisters, Mae Emma Vines of LaFayette, AL, Linda Burnett of Tallassee, AL, Doris Faye (Willie) Brown of Valley, AL, and Debra Phillips of Lanett, AL; one brother, Bobby Phillips of LaFayette, AL; a special aunt, Emma Rea Hughley of LaFayette, AL; a special niece, Janet Phillips of LaFayette, AL; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. ET in the sanctuary of the Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1006 North 10th Avenue, Lanett, AL, 36863 with Rev. Dr. Jesse Walker, Eulogist.

Interment will follow in the Essie J. Handy Cemetery, LaFayette, AL, 402 B Street, LaFayette, AL 36862

Public Viewing will be held on Monday, November 4, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. ET until 6:00 p.m. ET at the mortuary.
