Ms. Larica J. “Meka” Jones, 47, of Lanett, AL, gained her wings into eternal rest on February 27, 2025 at her residence.
Larica Jocilia Jones was born on September 30, 1977, to Sandra Kate Jones and the late Larry Joe Jones. Affectionately known as “Meka” by her family and close friends, she was a cherished daughter, sister, niece, cousin, and friend. Meka had a heart full of love and a spirit that brightened every room she entered.
On February 27, 2025, Larica gained her heavenly wings at her residence, surrounded by family who loved and cherished her deeply. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, resilience, and unwavering faith.
Larica attended Lanett High School and, after a tragic accident, later obtained her GED in 1994. Though life presented its challenges, she never let them define her. Instead, she faced each obstacle with grace and determination, proving that strength is not just about overcoming struggles but embracing life with unwavering joy.
From an early age, Larica found a deep connection with her faith. She was a devoted member of St. John Baptist Church, where she worshiped with her church family under the leadership of Rev. Walter Darden and later, Rev. Charles E. Trammell. Her faith guided her in all aspects of life, providing her with the foundation to be a source of encouragement and love for those around her.
Though she never had children of her own, Larica was a second mother to her many nieces and nephews. Her nurturing heart, playful spirit, and endless support made her a beloved matriarch within her family. To know “Meka” was to love her—she never met a stranger, and her laughter was contagious.
Larica was preceded in death by her father, Larry Joe Jones; her uncle, Keith Trammell; her cousin, Sherika Trammell; and her maternal grandparents, Ralph and Lizzie Kate Trammell. She leaves behind a family who will forever cherish her memory and the love she so freely gave. Her legacy of love will forever be engraved in the hearts of her loved ones.
She leave to cherish her precious memories her loving and devoted mother, Sandra Kate Jones, Lanett, AL; two brothers, Fredrick Malone, Lanett, AL and Damian Jones, West Point, GA; two sisters, Tandra(David)Reed, West Point, GA and Gresham Brooks, LaGrange, GA; thirteen aunts, Pam(George)Chambers, Columbus, GA, Sandra Holloway, Jacksonville, FL, Patricia Tucker, Shelia Scott, Lisa Trammell, Angela Trammell, Betty Trammell all of West Point, GA, Dr. Bishop Bertha Hodge, Lanett, AL, Rita(Carl)Lee, West Point, GA, Tina Little, Talladega, AL, Elnora(Kenneth)Copeland, Lanett, AL, Minnie Clyde(Greg)Trice and Bobbie Dean Jones both of West Point, GA; seven uncles, John Williams, Lanett, AL, Calvin(JoAnn)Williams, West Point, GA, Johnny Ray(Debra)Williams, LaGrange, GA, Rev.
