Johnny Lee Bailey II, warmly known as “L” was born in Langdale, AL, on August 26, 1958, to Annie Thelma Bailey and the late Edward Lee Bailey Sr. He departed this life on April 23, 2024 at the Bethany House, Auburn, AL.
He began his working career with his father as a roofer with Valley Roofing Company & Son’s, now known as Valley Roofing. For a brief time, “L” served in the US Army and was honorably discharged. Once back home, he continued roofing and would also perform various jobs around West-Shawmut area. He would often be seen around town cutting grass, repairing lawn mowers, making leather belts, and working on a variety of vehicles.
“L” confessed his life to Christ at an early age and recently rededicated himself to Christ while at EAMC Opelika, AL, in April of 2024.
“L” was preceded in death by his father; his grandparents, Johnny Lee (Ruby), Joe (Cora) Brooks, and Willie (Lonnie) Avery; a brother, L.D. Hurston Jr. and an uncle, John Will (Dorothy) Bailey.
Johnny Lee “L” leaves to cherish his memories: two children, Antwone Latheal Bailey of Rosenberg, TX and LaMonica(Terrence)Bledsoe of Lanett, AL; eight grandchildren, Jakori, Journey, and Jaida Bailey all of Rosenberg, TX, ShaMiracle, TaKai’Jah, Teiara and ShaKerrah Williams all of Lanett, AL; three sisters, Gloria(Robert)Tyner, Anita(Donewell)Kashiri and Bonita Hicks, special cousin, that was reared as a sister, all of Lanett, AL; six brother, Edward Lee Bailey, Jr., Michael (Angelia) Bailey, Jeffery Van(Sandra)Bailey, Daniel Louis Bailey all of Lanett, AL, Clarence Jerome(Tracey)Bailey, Lima Linda, CA and Roger “Pete” Williams, special cousin, that was reared as a brother; one aunt, Sarah Brooks of Lanett, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends that was dear to him; special friend, Paul Hicks of Lanett, AL.
Funeral Services for Mr. Johnny Lee ”L” Bailey, II , will on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of the Mt. Hermon Baptist Church 1601 Magnolia Road, Lanett, AL with Bishop Donald Lancaster serving as the eulogist.
Interment will be held in the Pine Hill Cemetery, 2235 22nd Avenue, SW, Lanett, AL.
Public viewing will be held on Monday, April 29, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. ET until 6:00 p.m. at the mortuary.
