Mr. Darryl Lynn Johnson of LaGrange, GA passed away Monday, January 15, 2018 at Wellstar Medical Center, LaGrange, GA.
Funeral Services Mr. Johnson will be held on Sunday, January 21,2018 at 2:00 pm, et at the St. John Baptist Church, Lanett, AL with Rev. Charles Trammell, Pastor serving as the Eulogist.
Interment will follow in the St. John Cemetery.
The remains will lie in state at the St. John Baptist Church from 1:00 pm, et until the funeral hour on Sunday, January 21,2018.

Mr. Darryl Lynn Johnson was born to the late Maureen Johnson and the late Albert Gilliam, Sr. in Chambers County, AL on December 22, 1961. He was the only boy born to this union. Darryl transitioned from this Life on Monday, January 15, 2018 at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center, LaGrange, GA.
At an early age, Darryl accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and personal savior and joined the St. John Baptist Church. He was a faithful member and attended church until failing health. He loved his Pastor, as a friend and confidant.
“Big D” ,as he was known to many, was a product of the West Point Pubic School System, where he was a member of the 1980 graduating class. He enjoyed socializing with family and friends.
He was preceded in death a uncle, William C. Johnson.
Darryl’s memories will forever be engraved in the hearts of his loved ones: his wife, Tersia Johnson, LaGrange, GA; a son, that he raised as his own, Joe Avery, LaGrange, GA; his beloved and faithful sisters, Joanie Marshall (Desadier Reese, grandson),LaGrange, GA, Anita Spencer (Larry),Whitesville, GA, Karen Thompson (Wayne),Conyers, GA, Phyllis Cox ( Willie),Ellenwood, GA; one brother, Sylvester Dunn, Jr., Ellenwood, GA; aunts, Sylvia Ann Gates, LaGrange, GA, Ida Mae Boswell, Atlanta, GA, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; a dear cousin ,that he always called on for anything and loved dearly, Willie Cox; a niece, that he cherished and would always speak encouraging words to, Jessica Cox; He would encourage her to study hard, because one day she might become a doctor; Mrs. Gwendolyn Ann Jones, a dear friend, whom he loved so much. She would often visit and give her all with love and blessings; to his “Home Boys”,Chris Hicks, Hubert Bailey, Robert Chapman, Jr., Arthur Huguley, Greg Williams Dexter Borders, Wyli Amed and Rock Bailey, he cherished the time he spent with each of you. “Don’t think of him as gone away, his journey just begun. Life holds so many facets this earth is only one.”
