Mrs. Charlotte Ann Heard Grace was born August 5 1944, in Troup County, GA. She departed in life on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at her home in Lanett , AL.
Charlotte joined the St. John Baptist Church at the early age of 11. After relocating back to Lanett, she reunited with the St. John and remained a dedicated, faithful member until her health failed her. Charlotte served her church in many areas. She served as Vice President and President of the General Missionary Society, Youth Sunday School teacher, member of the Christian Education Department, the Gospel Choir, the Steering Committee and extremely active with the Benevolent Ministry, sending cards and Daily Bread books by mail or hand delivered for birthdays, sickness and in sympathy, even in the rain, sleet or snow. Charlotte loved her church family. She was a member of the Progressive Matrons, has served as Crusaders Supervisor. She was a supporter of the Bowen East District Association having served as Co-Chairperson for the Home Mission Committee continuing her work of loving, caring and sharing. She supported the Alabama Baptist State Women’s Convention each year representing her church. Grace, as she was known to many, attended all three local schools. She was a member of the 1961 graduating class of Harrison High School. She furthered her education by attending Opelika Tech, where she received her license as a practical nurse.
After graduating from College Charlotte met and married William Grace and from that union she had two beautiful daughters , Avis Shalonda Grace and Wylma Jnez Grace. Later she had another beautiful daughter, Anzia Ovajus Davis. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elijah Heard, Jr. and Ridonia Virginia Heard and a brother, Levon”Dump”Heard.
She is survived by her three loving daughter, Avis Shalonda Grace, Wilma Jnez Grace and Anzio Ovajus Davis; grandchildren, Sh’Tiffaney Edwards, Chr’Porschesha Mclemore, Ebony Davis, Walik Grace, Anthony Jenkins, Shekinah (Josh) Hill and Mehki’a Grace; great grandchildren,Tavian Edwards, Camajh , Kase’lyn and Camila Mclemore , and Kamaria Davis; three sisters, Kovia (Maruice) Winston, Mary (Curtis) Trapp And Tanya Heard; two brothers, Dennis and Franklin Heard; niece, Lavon Jones; nephew, Titus ( Zsa Zsa) Heard; cousins, Freddie and Etta Billingslea; a life long sister, Martha (BayDump) Menefield and her god-daughter, Neketti Princess Tucker; two very special friends, Wilber Traylor and Juanita Lynch and a host other relatives and friends.
Graveside Services for Mrs. Grace will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. ET in the St. John Cemetery with Rev Charles Trammell, Eulogist, Rev. W. L. Darden and Rev. Billy Drakes, Jr., assisting.
Public viewing will held on Friday, July 22, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. ET until 6:00 p.m. at the mortuary.
