Mrs. Annie Combs, age 73, of Valley, AL, gained her wings into eternal rest of Sunday, August 30, 2021 at East Alabama Medical Center, Opelika, AL.
Annie L. Combs was born on March 30, 1948 to the late Milford Patten, Sr. and Erma D. Patten in LaGrange, GA.
At an early age, Annie confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior and united with the Ebenezer Baptist Church. She contributed greatly to the church as a saved and dedicated worker for the Kingdom. She was a faithful, hardworking servant. She loved her Church! Her works will be greatly missed as she served as the Usher Board Treasurer, Chairperson of Culinary Committee and Custodian.
Annie was educated in Chambers County School System. Her passion was cooking, and her favorite pastimes included listening to music and going to the Casino. She worked over 20 years in the Textile Industry for West Point Stevens.
Annie gained her wings into eternal rest on Sunday, August 29, 2021 at EAMC-Opelika, AL. God called her home to join her King and the King of Kings!
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Kate Patten and two brothers, Frank and Henry Patten and a close friend, Joanne Williams
Annie leaves to cherish her precious memories to: one son, Bernard Combs (Marquita Holloway) of Virginia Beach, VA; one daughter, Veronica C. Phillips of Valley, AL; four grandchildren, Britany McQueen of West Point, GA, T’Boskii Sharpe of Houston, TX, Saeed Combs of Virginia Beach, VA and Justiss Burton of Valley, AL; five sisters, Margaret Baker and Shirley Magby both of Valley, AL, Nell (Leroy) Phillips of LaFayette, AL, Gloria Bobo of Jersey City, NJ and Precilla Patten of Stroudsburg, PA; four brothers, Milford (Vicky) Patten and Ronnie Patten both of Lanett, AL, Kim (Jacqueline) Patten of Valley, AL and Stacey Patten of Chattanooga, TN and a nephew/brother, James “Kip” (Elaine) Mackey of LaGrange, GA; a special friend, Mr. Robert “Bobby” Lee; two close friends, Stacie Moore, Mary Mood, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Graveside Services for Ms. Annie L. Combs will be held on Saturday, September 4 ,2021 at 2:00 p.m. ET in the Essie J. Handy Memorial Cemetery, LaFayette, AL with Dr. Jesse Walker, Jr. Pastor, Eulogist, Rev.Gary L.Dixon, Officiant, Rev. Karanja Story and Rev. Terry Magby, Assisting.
Public viewing will be held on Friday, September 3, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the M.W. Lee Mortuary.
