Dear Jeff, I received my LaFayette Sun yesterday afternoon and read about Betty, I am so sorry. I tried to call yesterday to offer my sympathy and love to you, Leroy Brenda and Susan. Betty was a wonderful person and gave so much to all who came in contact with her and Leroy. I have so valued and held dear what she and Leroy meant to me and how much I admired them both. The world is a better place because of Betty. All of you are much in my thoughts and prayers. Sue Boxx

What an incredibly kind and generous person Ms. Betty was. Leroy got me started in medicine as a teenager in the early 70s working in Dr. Nick Wheeler’s clinic, teaching me the skills that would serve as a foundation for my future career. Betty and Leroy often invited me into their home and to enjoy her fabulous cooking. They made me feel like a member of their family. The world was a better place with Ms. Betty in it. Jeff I'm so sorry to hear about Ms. Betty. I worked with her at Russell and my mother worked with her at Playtex. She was a awesome lady! I am grateful for having known her. Precious memories I have of our time together. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Miss Betty is one of our favorite cousins. My sister, Syble shared with me of her fondly memories about her. She used to babysit Betty's two older daughters at her upstairs rented apartment next to old hospital in Lafayette. I believe Betty influenced Russell Corp to hire deaf people and they loved her.
