Ms. Willie Lou Carter, a resident of Valley, AL, died Saturday, October 22, 2022 at her residence.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. (EST) from Rehoboth Baptist Church, Huguley Road, Valley, AL, Rev. Karanja Story, Pastor and Rev. Wayne Madden, Eulogist.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Valley, AL. Davis Memorial Mortuary of Valley directing.
Public Viewing is scheduled for Friday, October 28, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Davis Memorial Mortuary Chapel, 305 W. F. Burns Dr., Valley, AL.
Ms. Willie Lou Carter was born December 31, 1934 in Chambers County, Alabama to Brady C. Carter, Jr. and Mozella Harris Carter. She accepted Christ at an early age under the pastoral leadership of her father at Community Baptist Church in Fairfax (now Valley), Alabama. She traveled with him as the featured soloist when he preached. Ms. Carter has lived in many states and was a member of several churches. She later became a member of Faith Mission, now known as Eagles’ Nest Cathedral in West Point, Georgia. She was a faithful member and beloved Mother, often using her talents to help decorate and serve where needed.
Ms. Carter was educated at Rehobeth High School and later obtained her GED in Indiana. She was a creative and successful entrepreneur. She returned home to assist with the care of her mother, Mozella during her illness. While home, she became a Certified Nurse Assistant and worked in the Obstetrics Department of George H. Lanier Memorial Hospital in Valley.
Ms. Carter was the last surviving sibling of eight. She was preceded in death by: three brothers, Johnny Carter, Grady Carter and Curtis Carter; four sisters, Ester Carpenter, Bernice Huguley, Virginia Bennett and Marian Barker; and her son, O D Madden, Jr. On Saturday, October 22, 2022, Willie Lou Carter entered eternal rest at her home in Valley, Alabama.
She leaves to cherish her memories: seven children, Willie (Peggy) Florence, Beverly (Beverly H., Jr.) Lipford, Wayne (Jessica) Madden, Teresa (Milton, Jr.) Davis, Cynthia Madden, Jonathon (Sylvia) Carter and Eric Lewis; sister-in-law, Mary Carter; brother-in-law, Benjamin Bennett; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends; and the angel to our mother and her children, Mrs. Bobbie Carter.
