Ms. Mary Jean Floyd, a resident of Valley, AL, died Tuesday, December 27, 2022 in Valley, AL.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Thursday, January 5, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. (EST) from Concord Missionary Baptist Church, Salem, AL with Pastor Marshall Morgan officiating.
Interment will follow in the churchyard cemetery. Davis Memorial Mortuary of Valley directing.
Public Viewing is scheduled for Wednesday, January 4, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. (EST) at Davis Memorial Mortuary Chapel.
Ms. Mary Jean Floyd was born on April 26, 1962 to the parentage of the late Brady and Ella Ruth Floyd in Lee County, Alabama. At an early age Mary Jean accepted Christ as her Savior and joined the Concord Missionary Baptist Church in Salem, Alabama.
Mary was educated in the Lee County Public School System. She worked numerous years in the Lee County School System for the Janitorial Department and also worked numerous years for West Point Stevens. During her free time, Mary enjoyed fishing, card games and dominoes. She also loved spending quality time with her family and friends. Most of all she loved cooking for her children, she would always say jokingly “I got a family to feed.” Mary was so proud of who she was and always reminded her children and grandchildren that they were Floyds and to be proud of who you are.
She was preceded in death by her sisters Annie Lee Jones and Annie Ruth Floyd, and a brother Brady C. Floyd.
Her loving memories will be cherished by: her three children, Martrice A. Floyd, Valley, AL, Mary L. Floyd, Cusseta, AL and Willie A. Floyd, Valley, AL; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Willie(Rebecca) Floyd, Valley, AL, one sister Martha Jean Phillips, Chicago, IL; two special cousins, Essie Brown and Jeralene Heard, who were like sisters to her; and a host of other relatives and friends who will always love and miss her dearly.
