McCullough, Mrs. Mary, a resident of Valley, AL, died Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at EAMC-Lanier Memorial Hospital in Valley.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Monday, October 8, 2018 at 12:00 Noon (EST) from Evergreen Baptist Church, Valley, AL with Pastor Frankie Hutchinson officiating.
Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, Lanett, AL. Davis Memorial Mortuary of Valley directing.
Public Viewing is scheduled for Sunday, October 7, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Davis Memorial Mortuary Chapel.
Mary Helen McCullough, daughter of the late Johnny Collins and Rosie Mae Ward Flakes, was born December 30, 1934 in Salem, Alabama. At an early age, she accepted Christ as her personal Savior. She enjoyed attending Evergreen Baptist Church in Valley until her health began to fail.
She was united in holy matrimony to Henry Jackson McCullough. They were blessed with eight children. Mary was a loving, humble and humorous person. She enjoyed singing, dancing, praying and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Henry J. McCullough, Sr.; her daughter, Louella McCullough; her son, Henry J. McCullough, Jr.; brothers, Billy Davis, James Flakes, Chester Flakes, Will Flakes and Wayne Collins; and sister, Ella Mae Buckhannon. Mary quietly departed this life on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at EAMC-Lanier Memorial Hospital in Valley, Alabama.
Her beautiful life will be cherished by: her children, Betty Gooden, Valley, AL, Martha (Sonny) Russell, Opelika, AL, Mary (Jessie) Spence, LaGrange, GA, Lee Roy McCullough, Lanett, AL, Maggie (Horace) Yuson and Teresa McCullough both of Atlanta, GA; daughter-in-law, Lorraine McCullough, Valley, AL; 32 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Charles (Diane) Flakes of Delaware; sister, Molly (Ramon) Williams, Opelika, AL; sisters-in-law, Mary Collins and Betty Flakes both of Opelika, AL; two very special grandsons, Emanuel McCullough, who brought her handpicked flowers each week and Willie Meadows, who was one of her daily caregivers; and, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
