My heart is so heavy, as I'm sure so many others feel the same way. My Aunt Gwen was my favorite Auntie. As a youth I lived in the house with Aunt Gwen, Grandma Cora, Uncle Torrence & Uncle Troy. I slept in the bed with Aunt Gwen, she was like my big Sister. She worked at York General Hospital on the night shift. But in the morning when she get off she would pull out her sewing machine and make me & her clothes. I attended the Kingdom hall with her and went out in field service with her. It was long after I turned 15 yrs old Aunt Gwen got Married and moved away. Through the years we stayed in touch and when they would visit Rock Hill, they knew my doors swung on welcome hindges for them. The most recent years we talked 3 or 4 times a month, it we didn't talk we would text. Aunt Gwen always had a positive word and a scripture for me. I valued our time together and always looked forward to seeing when she passed through or came for Family Reunion. In 2016, family reunion was cancelled, but Aunt Gwen was determined to come & see me, because she & I both was battling will serious illnesses. Aunt Gwen came up from Georgia, stay a few hours with me and went back home. Our strong faith and trust in Jehovah, we kept each other encouragd. I know my Aunt is in that Paradise in Heaven watching over Me. Gone, but she will never be forgotten.
Gwen my dear cousin who was like a sis to ma came to help w/my wedding dress which needed to be bustled...it was hilarious her & another sis on camera helping me out. That's who she was, always sincerely caring, loyal to Jah and being grateful for the positive. She left treasured memories that will stay in my heart. Praying for fam.
My sincere condolences to the Baptiste family. I was saddened to hear that my dear friend Gwen has passed away. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family and may Jehovah the God of all comfort be with you.
I met Gwen through my wife. They were friends for many decades. She anf Jimmy were the classic examples of husband and wife. She was also wonderful mother. I offer my deepest condolences.
Although we only knew Gwen for a short period time. My favorite memory of her is her way welcoming us into the congregation. She made jewelry and would gift it. I think my granddaughter has the prettiest collection she made. I also had the opportunity to do letter writing with her. I had plan to spend an hour with her. But you who knew Gwen an hour would turn into 3 or more easily. My family I will miss her
We will miss Gwen's lovely smile and sense of humor. On many occasions, our families socialized together, worshiped together and enjoyed many field service activities. Our hearts are deeply hurt in this moment. We know Gwen is in Jehovah's memory with perfect health to come! May Jehovah sustain Jim, Jamiece and Melanie at this difficult time. Please know, our hearts and prayers are with you.
