Celebrating the legacy of Deacon Steven Robert Holmes, Carter Funeral Home announces the transition of Mr. Holmes, age 70, of Ft. Davis, AL.
Deacon Holmes lovingly known as โBuddyโ by his friends and associates transitioned suddenly into eternity June 6, 2022.
The Commemoration of Life will begin with a public visitation, Friday, June 17, 2022, from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.
The Farwell Celebration at Graveside will be held Saturday, June 18, 2022, at 11:00 am from the Union Oak Grove Baptist Cemetery of Hardaway, AL.

Steven Robert Holmes was the son to the late Bertha Holmes and Oscar Shedrick. He was later adopted by Stephen Holmes, Sr.
Steven Holmes confessed Christ at an early age and became a member of the Union Oak Grove Baptist Church in Hardaway, AL on February 27, 1977. He was ordained as Deacon, where he served for forty-five years. Steven loved serving; he actively served at Union Oak Grove along with other churches that needed his assistance. He loved serving the Lord, and he was passionate about it. Steven departed this life in Fort Davis, AL on Monday, June 6, 2022, at 4:53 a.m. on the way to dialysis in Union Springs, AL.
Steven was educated at many schools, graduating from Bullock County High School in 1971. He held different manufacturing jobs. His career ended as a truck driver for Bonnie Plant Farm in Union Springs, AL.
On July 2, 1976, Steven married Paulette Williams in Union Springs, AL. They made their home together in Fort Davis, AL for forty-six years.
Steven leaves to cherish his memories: a loving wife of forty-six years, Paulette Holmes, Fort Davis, AL; four children, Steven Holmes, Jr., Victor Holmes, Teresa Holmes, Tuskegee, AL, and Christopher (Vanessa) Holmes, Huntsville, AL;twograndchildren, Martavius Holmes, Fort Davis, AL and Aubrey Holmes-Robin, Huntsville, AL; four sisters, Lisa Holmes, Tuskegee, AL, Mary Holmes, Hardaway, AL, Marie Hampton, Auburn, AL, and Minnie Pearl Williams, Fort Davis, AL; special friends and family, Terry Johnson, Jeffrey Johnson, Connie Johnson, William and Amanda Harris, Sara Ford, and Mary Fitzpatrick; along with a host of nieces and nephews. He just knew everyone.
