Obituary For Sarah Lue Townsend

Fwd: Carter Funeral Home respectfully announces the transition of Sarah Townsend on April 25, 2016. A native of Bullock County, AL, Sarah was born December 12, 1946.

Celebration of Life Services were held Sunday, May 1, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. from the sanctuary of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Simsville Community, Union Springs, Alabama. Words of comfort were delivered by Rev. Jerome Anthony, Sr., Pastor. Interment followed immediately afterwards in the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery.

Sister Sarah Lue “Sis” Townsend, daughter of the late Issac and Eva Mae Lee Townsend, was born December 10, 1946 in Bullock County, AL.

She confessed her belief in God and was baptized at an early age. Sarah attended and served faithfully at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church as an usher, choir member and dependable “Industrial Engineer”. Two brothers preceded her in death, Arthur James Townsend and J.B. Townsend.

She was called home on April 25, 2016. Sarah’s memories will be cherished by her loving and devoted family; children: Gail Townsend, Atlanta, GA and Kendrick Townsend, Union Springs, AL; sister, Ada Mae Townsend, Union Springs, AL; brothers, Issac Townsend, Atlanta, GA, Tommy (Vanessa) Townsend, Riverdale, GA and Edward Townsend, New Jersey; sister-in-law, Alice Townsend; grandchildren, Genea Owens, Jade Thomas, Zachary Townsend, Au’Dresha Townsend, Kendall Townsend and La’Kendra Pearson; daughter/niece, Ardiss Townsend; son/nephew, Waddell Townsend, Union Springs, AL; uncles, Abraham Surles, Union Springs, AL and George Surles, New Jersey; God-sister, Mary Helen Thomas; God-brother, Willie Frank Thomas; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and Anquenetta “Angie” Tarver.
