Carter Funeral Home announces the peaceful transition of Mrs. Queen Nell Tolbert Lassiter, (68), of Union Springs, Alabama.
Mrs. Lassiter passed away in Montgomery, Alabama at Baptist Medical Center -East under the watchful care of her providers on February 18, 2022.
The Commemoration of Life will begin with a public visitation, Friday, February 25, 2022, from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.
The Farewell Celebration at Graveside will be held Saturday, February 26, 2022, at 2:00 pm from the Nebraska Missionary Baptist Cemetery, Hardaway, AL. Pastor James Sullen will deliver the message of comfort and hope. Service will be live-streamed (see clickable link below)
In accordance with recommended COVID-19 Protocols, all attendees are requested to utilize appropriate facial coverings, maintain social distancing, and minimize physical contact.
Queen Nell Tolbert Lassiter was born May 23, 1953 in Bullock County Alabama to the late Jimmie Lee Tolbert Sr. and Ann Bell Tolbert. She departed this life on February 18, 2022.
Queen accepted Christ at an early age and joined St. John AME Church in Union Springs, Alabama under the leadership of Reverend B. F. Thomas where she served as an usher there for many years. She later moved her membership to Nebraska Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Gerald Sanders and continued to serve under the leadership of Reverend James Sullen Sr. She also served as an usher until her health declined.
Queen attended Merritt Jr. High in Midway, Alabama and Carver High School in Union Springs, Alabama. Queen was employed with the Hill Top Grill for several years before retiring.
The 80’s known for something “new and exciting” proved to be just that for Queen, because it was a wonderful day in the 80’s when she was swept off her feet by the love of her life, Roy (Lil Car) Lassiter. Queen and Roy shared a long and loving life until his demise.
Queen was preceded in death by her parents Jimmy and Annie Bell Tolbert, Sr. her husband, Roy A. Lassiter Sr., daughter, Laura A. Tolbert, brother, Jimmy L. Tolbert, three grandchildren; Kelvin Ellis, Jr. Synich Ellis, and Lauren Lassiter and special nephew, Derek A. Tolbert.
Queen leaves to cherish her precious memories 10 children: Ray (Tara) Tolbert, Sr. of Clewinston, Florida, Jennifer L. Purifoy, Laquita (Taurus) Lassiter both of Union Springs, Alyesia (Kelvin) Ellis Sr. of Opelika, Alabama, Jessie (Patricia) Lassiter of Suffolk, Virginia, Gwendolyn and Joanene Lassiter, Both of San Antonio, Texas, Roy (Tommie Gail) Lassiter Sr. of Shorter, Alabama, two sisters: Elegertha T. Chesson of Shorter, Alabama Patricia (Tyrone) Tarver, Sr. of Tuskegee, Alabama, one brother Otis Tolbert Sr. of Union Springs, Alabama one sister in law Jennifer Y. Tolbert of Clewinston, Florida, 31 grandchildren , two she reared as her own, Cedric (Marja ) Tolbert and Kymbra’anna (Justin Ford) Tolbert both of Union Springs, Alabama, 25 great grandchildren , two special nephews; Tyrone (Maretha ) Tarver, Jr and Timothy (Anita Bedgood) a a special cousin Richard (Sam) Addis, some special friends: Mark Harvey, Quamie Richardson, Henry Rosado, Brenda Chang, Dontanice Armer and Veronica Wilson and host of nieces and nephews and other family members and friends.
