Forty-nine years ago on October 10, 1973, it was a warm Wednesday when the late Rev. Evins Faulk, Sr. and Mrs. Mae Lizzie Washington Faulk gave birth at John Andrew Hospital in Tuskegee, Alabama to a handsome and precious baby boy, Prestic Romar Faulk, who would come to mean so much to so many.
Prestic was born into a devout Christian home where he learned early in life to trust, praise and worship God. During revival in 1982, Prestic gave his life to Christ at Cornerstone AME Zion Church under the leadership of Rev. E.D. Marshall. At various times in his life, Prestic served in numerous positions at Cornerstone. Some of them included usher, trustee and church school teacher. After locating to South Carolina, Prestic assisted Bishop William Gasque with starting the New Life Outreach Ministries. Prestic also enjoyed working in the Media Ministry.
From childhood, a strong work ethic was instilled into Prestic. As a youngster, Prestic worked with his father and mother learning the value of hard work, determination, and the spirit of excellence. From his parents, Prestic acquired skills and a passion for farming and construction. In 2020, Prestic worked alongside his mother and brothers in the farming business and was acknowledged with the Merit Farming Award given by Tuskegee University. Prestic is also a founding member of the East Alabama Black Belt Farmers Cooperative.
Prestic was gifted in many areas, but his greatest talent was in computer graphics. While in South Carolina, Prestic worked with Patterson Signs and Arts as a graphic designer. For four years, Prestic taught computer classes at the New Ellenton Technology Center. When he returned back to Union Springs, he was employed by Mrs. Sylvia Gwen Franklin at Back In Union Springs Embroidery and T-Shirt Shop as a graphic designer. In addition, he did volunteer work with the Union Springs Herald.
Prestic matriculated through the public schools of Bullock County to graduate with honors from Bullock County High School in 1992. While in high school, he served as the Student Government Association President and Sports Reporter. Prestic graduated from Auburn University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Arts.
Education, teaching and coaching were Prestic’s passions. Upon graduation from Auburn University, Prestic moved to New Ellenton, South Carolina where he taught and coached for 13 years in the Aiken County School District. He taught Business Administration and Technology Education. In 2007, Prestic was awarded Teacher of the Year. In addition to teaching, he was an assistant coach for the Girls and Boys Middle School Basketball Team at Jackson Middle School.
In 2013 Prestic began experiencing health challenges and returned to Union Springs to be closer to family. In 2013-2014, Prestic taught Business Education for Barbour County School System. From 2014-2018, Prestic taught Pre-Engineering and Geometry at his beloved Bullock County High School. Later he taught math at South Highlands Middle School from 2019-2022. Prestic also enjoyed working with the athletic department as an assistant coach to the Varsity Football Team and Girls Basketball Team.
Prestic loved his community and was always willing to serve to make things better. He loved the life of politics and public service. He was an active member of the Bullock County Voter’s League and served as secretary and Education Coordinator. In 2007, Prestic was elected to the City Council of New Ellenton, South Carolina where he served for four years. He was a candidate for public office in Bullock County but was unsuccessful in his bid. Nevertheless, he continued to be involved in politics in his community. In 2021, Prestic became the Bullock County OCAP Director.
Coach Faulk was passionate about the development and the future of our youth. He served on various scholarship committees to provide scholarships to hometown students. He filmed athletic events to provide videos to submit to colleges to support high school athletes with their recruitment efforts. With Mrs. Kim Adams Graham, they worked together to organize Club 3:16 to provide a Christian foundation for athletes through bible study and prayer. He was a fond supporter of the BCHS Band and the Chilly’s ICE Cool Band. Lastly, he was the announcer (THE VOICE) for the basketball team.
As the dawn lifted its veil on Tuesday morning, December 6, 2022, Prestic heard the Master calling. Without notice, he quickly slipped away to be at rest. He is preceded in death by his father, Rev. Evins Faulk, Sr., and two brothers, Raymond Louis Faulk and Willie Alexander Faulk.

Dear Faulk family,
My family and I are so sorry for your loss. While words fail to truly express the pain, know that our prayers and thoughts are there to encourage you. All humans feel the sting of death but the Bible gives comfort which God promises at 1 Corinthians 15:26 "And the last enemy, death, is to be brought to nothing".
