Ms. Scott will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to Celebration of Life Services.

Public visitation will be held Friday, November 1, 2019 from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.

MS. QV SCOTT was born November 22, 1940 to the late Mr. Chester Lee Scott, Sr. and Mrs. Lucille Mack-Scott in Union Springs, AL. At an early age, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and united with the Old Sardis Missionary Baptist Church. Her Christian walk was guided by her father and grandmother who set the example for her and her siblings on how to serve as followers of Christ.

QV was a 1958 graduate of Carver High School, as it was formally named. She proudly proclaimed that her class was the first to graduate from the building we now know as Bullock County High School. QV also boasted of being Salutatorian of her class. This we did not confirm, so we will just have to take her word for it. Most of her adult life, QV was disabled, however she was employed in many domestic capacities as well as factory work. For a short time, she was employed with Bonnie Plant Farm.

QV was a second mother to two of her nieces, as well as, some of her neighbors’ and friends’ children as well. She was loving and kind in her own “QV way”, but she would show another side if someone struck a nerve. She did not believe in sparing the rod either nor did she hold back on letting anyone know just how she felt about a matter. QV had a great sense of humor often times she would say something to make you laugh whether it intended to be funny or not.

QV was the family genealogist. If you needed to know a date or couldn’t remember something about a family member just call QV Scott. She could remember birthdays, anniversaries, and graduations of a family member whether deceased or alive. One of her passions was sewing, although no one remembers a completed outfit except Peggy Davis Beckley. She said QV once made her a pleated skirt.

She would often prepare meals for the family that were normally pretty tasty, but at times QV was a little heavy handed on the salt. If she burned the cornbread, she would say, “It’s just a little brown”.

Her love for her family was unquestionable. She would proudly boast about them all and refer to nieces, nephews and some relatives as “Little Rabbits”. The world knew how much she adored her oldest sister Lucille, whom she affectionately called, “Sook”. She did not want "Sook" out of her eyesight. Often, she would say, "I’m going to see my brother", referring to her oldest sibling Johnny, who was the apple of her eye. She had been spared knowing that he had already met the Lord a year and a half prior.

Ms. Queen Victoria and Queen Valeria were names QV would at times self-proclaim her name to be. We knew as her family; this colorful imagination was just part of her many years of battle with mental illness (which all too often the African American community does not like to admit or address). Nonetheless; we loved her and all the many faces and personalities of Ms. QV Scott. Our lives have been enriched and blessed by her presence here on earth, and it will never be the same without her.

Besides her parents, QV is preceded in death by grandmother, Adline Scott, (whom co-reared her). Three Brothers-Johnny Lee Scott, Sr., Chester Lee Scott, Jr. and Joseph Lee Scott. Two Sisters Marie Robinson and Yvonne Duff-Daniels, Two Sisters-inLaw, Victorine Scott and Louise Scott, one niece Lisa Scott.

She leaves to cherish her memory; Three brothers John Henry Scott, Peoria Il., Charles Scott, Sr. (Myra) and Willie Ray Scott, Birmingham Al, one loving and devoted Sister Lucille Scott, Union Springs Al, Two Daughter-Nieces Kathy M. Williams (John), Fort Mitchell Al and Laura S. Dickerson (Willie), Columbus GA, both whom she helped to rear, Nephews-Robert Nevith,(Darlena) Bayonne NJ, Alfred YuDonis Scott (Angeline), Roseville CA, Derrick Scott, Baltimore MD, Johnny Scott Jr., Corona CA, Chester Scott III, Donte Scott and Kenneth Scott(Dolita) Los Angeles CA, Charles Scott Jr. Birmingham AL, Kevin Scott Chicago IL, NeicesGail Felder(Gary), Sherri Wade (Robert)Anaheim CA, Beverly Adams, Chandra Scott, Alicia Scott, Elizabeth Hodge, Nakeisha Scott Birmingham Al, Nichole Robinson Chicago IL, Olavee Scott Los Vegas NE and Francheska Scott Los Angeles CA, Great Nephews and Nieces she help to shape and mold, Brandon Mack, Jeffery Mack (Erica), Tandra Hudson (Roderick), D’Jarra Mack, Jasmine Pernell (Victor), Kelldrick Mack (Keziyah), Willie Dickerson, Lakesha ”Keicie” Mack and a host of other great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
