Carter Funeral Home respectfully announces the transition of Mrs. Lela B. Robbins, 92, of Midway, Alabama on August 19, 2018
Born April 19, 1926, Mrs Robbins was very active in her local community.
Services celebrating her earthly Life will be held Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 11:30 am from the Bullock Career Technical Center.
The message of triumph will be rendered by the Rev. James N. Robbins, Sr., pastor of the Mt. Coney Missionary Baptist Church.
Interment will follow in the Mt. Coney Baptist Cemetery.
Mrs. Robbins will lie in repose at the venue one hour prior to Celebration of Life Services
Public visitation for Mrs. Robbins will be held Friday, August 24, 2018 from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.
Mrs. Lela Bell Pugh Robbins was born April 19, 1926 in Midway, Alabama. She was the second of twelve children to be born to the late Mr. Marion Pugh, Sr. and Mrs. Emma Sellers Pugh.
At an early age, she accepted Christ and joined the Mt. Azure Missionary Baptist Church. She attended Merritt High School in Midway, Alabama.
She met the love of her life, Mr. Lorenzo Robbins, Sr. and was united in Holy Matrimony in 1953. Later, she moved her membership to the Mt. Coney Missionary Baptist Church, where she served faithfully until her health started to decline. Mrs. Lela Bell Pugh Robbins served as Superintendent of Sunday School, President of the Senior Choir, President of the Senior Mission and Mother’s Day Worker for the Mt. Hebron District Association. She was also a member of the Mt. Pisgah Chapter #57 Order of Eastern Star (OES), and the American Legion Bell-Hopson Cook Unit 337.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lorenza Robbins, Sr., two grandsons, Marique Robbins & Gregory Robbins, three brothers, Thealuster, Marion Jr. and Willie, six sisters, Surethia, Elgertha, Martha, Janie Bell, Margaret, and Annie Dorothy. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. She leaves to cherish her memories: seven daughters, Loretta Jones, Gloria Jean Robbins, Katherine “Tat” Brooks, Lela “Linda” Robbins, Dollie “Cal” Blue, Peggy Pitts, and Patricia Smith; seven sons, Lorenza Robbins, Jr., Larry (Gwen) Robbins, Sr., Mitchell (Renthia) Robbins, Sr., Morris (Angeline) Robbins, Sr., Dorien (Catrina) Robbins, Sr., Keith (Gloria) Robbins, Sr., and Curlis McKenzie; 50 grandchildren, 100 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Gladys Lampley and Doris (Curtis) Streeter, three sisters-in-law, Louise Woods, Hazel Pugh, and LaVeda Pugh, and numerous of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends, a special daughters, Shelley Pearl Patterson and Linda Pritchett, special friends: Annie Penn, Iona McMillian, Mildred Whittington, De’Marcus Foxx, Minnie Nobles, Hermetta Williams, Joe Musa, Lela Bell Pugh, and Iona Graves.
