Carter Funeral Home announces the peaceful transition of Mr. Kenny L. Dennis, of Union Springs, AL.
Mr. Dennis passed away Tuesday August 8, 2023, at the age of 77.
The Commemoration of Life will begin with a public visitation, Saturday, August 12, 2023, from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.
The Farewell Life Celebration will be held Sunday, August 13, 2023, at 11:00 am from the sanctuary of the Mt. Canaan Missionary Baptist Church of Union Springs, AL, Rev. James Johnson, Sr, pastor.
The eulogy will be delivered by Rev. Arthur L. Jones, the former pastor of the Mt. Canaan and Briar Hill Missionary Baptist Churches.
In accordance with recommended COVID-19 Protocols, all attendees are requested to utilize appropriate facial coverings, maintain social distancing, and minimize physical contact.
Mr. Kenny Lee Dennis was born to the late Nathaniel and Viola Lewis Dennis on March 26, 1946, in Bullock County, Alabama.
At an early age, Kenny accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and joined Mt. Cannan Baptist Church in Roba, Alabama. He remained a faithful member until his transition on August 8, 2023.
Kenny was educated in schools in Bullock and Macon Counties. He was employed in the logging industry for over forty years. His job was a daily challenge, but Kenny was passionate about it. After retiring, he would still cut a tree down every now and then. Kenny enjoyed taking long walks and entertaining family and friends.
Kenny united in holy matrimony to Lena Bowen on December 29, 2009.
Kenny was also preceded in death by one daughter, Christine Hughes; one step-daughter, Sally Pearl Grant; ten siblings, Clinton Dennis, Daisy Dennis, Dollie Culver, Roman Dennis, Mamie Kinds, Clara Moore, Roy Dennis, Bessie Dennis, Leon “Ferry” Dennis, and Errollynn Dennis; and a first cousin who was like a mother to him, Ida Mae Dennis Sanders.
Kenny leaves to cherish his loving and precious memories: a loving and devoted wife, Lena Bowen Dennis, Hurtsboro, AL; one daughter, Ernestine Dennis, Asheville, NC; ten step-children, Janise B. McKinney, Opelika, AL, Rozenia Bowen Kindrex, Indianapolis, IN, Hattie Bowen, Columbus, GA, Alice Brooks, Phenix City, AL, Robert Lee Bowen “Bubble”, Tommie Fred Bowen “Peacher”, both of Hurtsboro, AL, Frank James Smith “Dulley”, David Bowen, both of Columbus, GA, and Antonio Marcellis Bowen “Bone”, Hurtsboro, AL; five sisters, Fronnie Epps, Columbus, GA, Viola White, Annie Snell, Lamettra Dennis, and Maple Dennis, all of Union Springs, AL; one brother, Carl Dennis, Columbus, GA; one sister-in-law, Bertha Dennis, Somerset, NJ; along with a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
