TO THE AUSTIN AND JONES FAMILY! MY HEARTFELT CONDOLENCES AND PRAYERS FOR OUR COUSIN SAM! MAY HE REST IN PEACE! TO A GOD FEARING MAN! Your Cousin ROSE
I first met "Sam" and his brother "Junior" in the summer of 1967 when granny Pearl sent them to "kidnap me" from Montgomery . I had never seen them before but with Sam's good nature and Junior's experience I felt in good hands. Sam took me around in Union Springs introducing me to family and friends . I remember he had two flats at the same time on his 1959 Chevy Impala and he handled it as if it was nothing. We stayed in contact over the years and it was as if we never had been away from each other as we could just pick up and start just like that. We talked jobs and experiences and he really showed he still had the dance moves on the 2007 Family reunion. It was as if he was forever young and resistant to aging. I took photos of him in 1978, 1985 and also in 2016 and he was always recognizable. I wished that we had more time as we always say to do those things with people we love . I will truly miss him as I was trying to get him more involved in family history like his sister Ernestine was. Loved his sense of humor and the way he took life without a lot of complaints . May he rest in peace . His cousin Sergeant Austin misses him and regrets that we didn't do more. My condolences to those within his orbit and I can say that it was a great honor in knowing him.
May you be comforted by the outpouring of love surrounding you. Gladys Penn Miami, FL
