Carter Funeral Home announces the transition of Mrs. Annie Mae Washington, 96, of Midway, Alabama.
Born, March 20, 1921 , Mrs. Washington transitioned into eternity November 22, 2017 in Montgomery, Alabama
Services celebrating her earthly tenure will be held Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 11:00 am from the sanctuary of the New Mt. Silla Missionary Baptist Church, 1432 County Road 49, Midway, Alabama.
The pastor, Rev James Person will deliver words of comfort.
Interment will follow in the Mt Silla Baptist Cemetery.
Mrs.Washington will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to Celebration of Life Services.
Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, December 1, 2017 from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.
Sister Annie Mae Washington was born on March 20, 1921 to the union of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Stevenson Sr. Sister Washington accepted Christ at an early age and joined the New Mount Silla Missionary Baptist Church. She was honored with an appreciation plaque for 49 years of faithful service. She moved to Montgomery, Alabama with her daughter, but continued to have love for New Mount Silla Baptist Church in her heart. Mrs. Annie Mae Washington was a graduate of Rebecca Comer High School. She attended teacher training school for a short time and used her gift in the New Mount Silla community. Sister Washington was united in Holy Matrimony to Deacon Theodis Washington who preceded her in death. She was blessed with the love for five sisters: Flora Hillary, Fannie Bush, Alma Cochran, Nettie Pearl Sellers, and Cecila Dorsey, four brothers: Fred Stevenson, Charles Stevenson Jr, Clifton Stevenson, and Howard Stevenson. All of her siblings preceded her in death.
Sister Washington leaves to cherish in her memory one daughter, Joan Dixon (Jessie J. Dixon), three grandsons, Jessie L. Dixon (Moniki), James L. Dixon (Kidada), and Jonathan L Dixon (Tosha). She has five great grandchildren, Trinity Dixon, Jailyn Dixon, Tyler Dixon, Terra Dixon, and Asten Dixon; a host of nieces, nephews and friends who were dear to her.
