Mr. Arthur “Dickie” Slaughter, 66, of West Point, GA passed away Saturday, March 30, 2019, at WellStar West Georgia Medical Center, LaGrange, GA.

A Homegoing Service for Mr. Slaughter will be held Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. ET from the sanctuary of the St. John Baptist Church, Lanett, AL with the Rev. Charles Trammell, Pastor, Eulogist, Rev. Billy Drakes, and Rev. Michael Stiggers, assisting.

Interment will follow in the Marseilles Cemetery

The family will receive friends at the residence of Rev. Charles and Mrs. Janice Trammell, 800 Whiten Road, West Point, GA.

Mr. Arthur Lee "Dickie" Slaughter was born the third child to the late Mrs. Lottie Sue Billingslea and the late Frank Ross on September 16, 1952 in Louisville, Kentucky. Our beloved father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend was called home on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Emory at WellStar West Georgia Medical Center, LaGrange, Georgia.

He was a member of St. John Baptist Church in Lanett, Alabama. He was a member of the Class of 1972 at West Point High School in West Point, GA.

Arthur loved his children and his family. He had a special love for Daddy and Mama Stiggers (Rev. O. C. & Catherine Stiggers). He was a very kind hearted and loving person. He loved fishing and being in the outdoors. He opened his home to everyone. He was loved by all and will be missed by many.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lottie Sue Billingslea, Frank Ross and three brothers, Willie Rufus Brooks, Timothy Slaughter and Michael Scott.

He leaves to cherish his memories: four sons, Arthur (AJ) Slaughter, Joshua (TC) Slaughter, both of West Point, GA., Larry Love, Lanett, AL and Tony Love, Birmingham, AL; one daughter, Patience Love, Birmingham, AL; one sister, Janice (Rev. Charles) Trammell, West Point, GA; four brothers, Abe Billingslea, Columbus, GA, John (Rosie) Slaughter, LaGrange, GA, William (Decora) Slaughter and Charles (Sheryl) Slaughter, both of Louisville, KY; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
