First Lady Jackquline Cartwright, age 69, of Lanett, AL, gained her wings into eternal rest on April 16, 2025 at EAMC-Lanier, Valley, AL.
Jackquline Cartwright was born September 6, 1955, to the late Beaulah Mae Hodnett and Cebon Ross in LaFayette, AL. She was a woman of great faith, compassion, and unwavering dedication to God and her family. At the tender age of 16, she accepted Christ into her life, beginning a journey of spiritual leadership and service that would span decades.
In 1975, she married the love of her life, Apostle Melvin Allen Cartwright. Together, they shared 49 years of marriage marked by devotion, ministry, and purpose. From their union came four children, Thea Cartwright (Valley, AL), Natasha Cartwright (Lanett, AL), Angela Cartwright (Roanoke, AL), Charles Cartwright (Opelika, AL), and adopted daughter, Chrishondra Hollis (Atlanta, GA). She was a proud grandmother to Matthew and Gabriel Cartwright, and great-grandmother to Genesis and Josiah, whom she adored deeply.
She is also survived by her loving sisters and one brother, Dianne (Willie) Evans, Patricia (Raymon) Poole, Julia Leverette and Jeff (Linda) Ross all of LaFayette, AL. Her life was richly blessed by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends whose lives she touched in immeasurable ways.
In 1989, she stepped faithfully into the role of First Lady alongside her husband’s pastoral calling. As a spiritual mother to many, she served as a prayer warrior, counselor, and leader of the women’s ministry. Her deep compassion also led her to serve in local nursing homes, always offering comfort and encouragement to those in need. A true servant at heart, she founded Hope Enterprises in 1997, an outreach organization dedicated to providing food, clothing, and support to low-income families in the community.
First Lady Cartwright will be remembered for her nurturing spirit, her powerful witness for Christ, and her unwavering commitment to serving others. Though her earthly journey has ended, her legacy of faith, family, and community service will continue to inspire generations to come.
