Ecclesiastes 3:1-2
To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven; A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted.
Mr. James C. Reed Jr. was born on January 13, 1942 to the parentage of the late Mr. & Mrs. James & Almatine Reed, Sr. in West Point, GA.
James was a graduate of Harrison High School’s class of 1962, where he was very active in many activities such as chorus and track, and he was very proud to let you know that he was a member of the Harrison High basketball state champs under the leadership of Coach Felder.
James was a very amiable and classic young man.
Although quiet and reserved, he had a charismatic style and flair that he carried on into adulthood. In his words, he could “pull a rabbit out of a hat,” meaning he knew how to dress!
After retiring from Knauf Fiberglass, he enjoyed trips to the beach, spending time grooming his yard, chauffeuring his grandkids around, and feeding the birds and stray cats in the neighborhood. He loved watching National Geographic and Western shows and listening to all genres of music, especially Usher! He was born in Georgia but was a diehard Alabama fan (ROLL TIDE)!!!
James was affectionately known by many names, such as Peacher, DD, Bay, Bay-Bruh, Uncle Bay, Reed, and JR, but the names he cherished most were Paw Paw and Pop-Pop.
He loved his grandchildren and did EVERYTHING in his power to make sure they knew it.
James departed this life on April 3, 2025 in Valley, AL. He was preceded in death by three sisters: Clara Burton, Frances Scott, and Carolyn Parks, and three brothers: Thomas (Madeline) Reed, Myles Reed, and Dan Reed.
Mr. James C. Reed Jr. leaves precious memories of an amazing life built and a beautiful family created with his loving wife of 58 years Mrs. Mary L. Reed; four daughters: Sharon (Thaddeus) Jenkins, Rachel (Danny) Howell, Felicia (Rodell) Harris, and Tammy Jones; one son, James “Jamie” (Balencia) Reed III; grandchildren: Tamaris Hill, Caleb Jenkins, Cameron Reed, Jaela (Sekema) Todd, Darian Howell, Jaevin Tucker, Noah Harris, Zoie Harris, Barrent (April) Dozier, JerDaija Traylor, Nekayla Traylor, AJ Traylor, and Karrigen Traylor; four great-grandchildren: Briar, Brooklyn, Krimson and Kolton; one sister, Jacqueline Thorpe; special niece, Joy Mobley; three sisters-in-law: Thelma Reed, Joyce Martin, and Marva McCullough; three brothers-in-law: Ben Parks, Clyde (Bessie) McCullough, and Steve (Gwen) Hutchinson; caregiver, Cynthia Reese; neighbors and friends: Edward (Pat) Johnson, Jessie (Carla) Harper, Henry L. Dunn and Johnny (Marcia) Thomas; as well as a host of other family and friends.
