Daphne “Dap” Culpepper

The daughter of the late Genell T. Culpepper and the late Oscar “Shag” Boyd, was born September 19, 1967, in West Point, GA. She departed this life on February 5, 2025, at Wellstar West GA Medical Center in LaGrange, GA.

Daphne accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and united with the Mt. Nebo Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor B.C. Carter. Daphne graduated from West Point High School, Class of 1986.

Daphne was a hard worker and was employed at LaGrange Molded in LaGrange, GA, for 15 years and Walmart Supercenter in LaGrange, GA, for 10 years.

Dap was a very humble and loving person who had a passion for cooking. She loved spending time with her kids, grandkids, and family. Dap loved to eat and watch her sitcoms, especially General Hospital. Daphne was a guiding light to all her nieces and nephews and was very passionate about helping anyone in need; her door was always open. At the end of her journey, she never complained because she was a strong fighter.

She was preceded in death by her father, Oscar “Shag” Boyd; her mother, Genell T. Culpepper; her brother, Michael A. Trammell; and her grandfather, Addis Trammell.

She leaves to cherish her memories her three devoted and loving sons, Bernard (Layla) Murphy of Birmingham, AL; Jarquervious (Princess) Culpepper of Valley, AL; and daughter, Shaterica S. Culpepper of West Point, GA; 10 grandchildren: Kentarion, Landrick, Ja’Laya, Kalieah, Jakerria, Jakayla, Jarquervious Jr., Princeton, Jaquavious, and JaNae, all of whom were her pride and joy; two sisters, Natalie V. Culpepper and Julia Flemister, both of West Point, GA; a loving and devoted cousin, Jimmie P. Trammell, West Point, GA; two uncles, Addis Trammell Jr. and Henderson Trammell, both of West Point, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends whom she adored.

Funeral Services for Ms. Daphne “ Dap” S. Culpepper will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. ET in the sanctuary of the Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, 2400 Old West Point Road, West Point, GA 31833 with Rev. LaFredrick Bridges, Pastor, Rev. Charles Tramell, Eulogist.


Public viewing will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the mortuary.
