Mr. Anthony E. Carter, a resident of Valley, AL, died Friday, December 13, 2024 at Emory University Hospital, Atlanta, GA.

Funeral Services are scheduled for Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. (CST) from Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church, 5058 U.S. Highway 29, Opelika, AL, Rev. Jesse Grooms, Pastor & Rev. Dr. Jonathon Carter, Eulogist.

Interment will follow in the churchyard cemetery. Davis Memorial Mortuary of Valley directing.

Public Viewing is scheduled for Friday, December 20, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. (EST) from Davis Memorial Mortuary Chapel with Masonic Rites being performed during the 6:00 p.m. hour.

Anthony Earl Carter was born on November 12,
1959 in Valley, Alabama to Mr. James Cornelious
Carter, Sr. and Mrs. Fannie M. Davis Carter. God
called our beloved brother, father, and grandfather
“Pops” home on Friday, December 13, 2024, at the
age of 65, after a courageous seven month battle with
congestive heart failure.


He was a 1977 graduate of Valley High School and
a 1979 graduate of Opelika State Technical College
receiving a degree in welding. Anthony was an
employee of West Point Stevens in Valley, Alabama
for more than 30 years. He later began working at
Kimberly-Clark Corporation in LaGrange, Georgia.


Anthony accepted Christ at an early age and was a
member of Mt. Zion African Methodist Episcopal
Church in Opelika, Alabama where he served as a
steward. As his health declined, Anthony became
a member under watchcare at Siloam Church
International in College Park, Georgia.


Throughout his life, Anthony was a devoted and
loving father who could always be counted on to
be there for his children, no matter where life took
them. Whether near or far, he made it a point to
be present in every moment; supporting, guiding,
and cheering them on with unwavering love and
dedication. His constant presence in their lives was
a true reflection of his deep commitment to family.
This commitment carried on to his grandchildren,
extended family and friends.


Anthony E. Carter was dedicated to his community
and a proud member of Modern Free & Accepted
Masons of the World, Inc. His involvement within
the organization was a significant part of his life,
where he embraced the values of brotherhood,
charity, and service. As a Mason, he gained a second
family, one that shared his commitment to helping
others and fostering mutual respect.


His contributions to Modern Free & Accepted
Masons of the World, Inc. and his impact on fellow
members were a testament to his character and
the generosity with which he lived his life. Notable
accomplishments include: Charter Member of Alpha
Lodge #008 and Heavenly Doves Chapter #1040, Past
Grand Master of Masons, Alabama, and Sovereign
Grand Inspector General of the Supreme Council of
the 33rd and Last Degree.


He was preceded in death by: his father and mother;
a sister, Gwendolyn Brooks; brothers, James
Cornelious Carter, Jr. and Michael Elroy Carter.


A lifetime of memories will be cherished by: his
children, Tiffany A. Yelder (Nick McCall), Opelika,
AL, Joshua A. (Konika) Carter, Valley, AL, and Tabatha
M. (Patrick) Mitchell, Montgomery, AL; siblings,
Shirley Hervey, Valley, AL, Shurby Jean Copeland,
Atlanta, GA, Kenneth (Stephanie) Carter, Raeford,
NC and Teddy Carter, Valley, AL; grandchildren,
Dezi A. Yelder, Jr., Carter A. Yelder, Brayden A. Yelder,
Kavis J. Carter, Sabien J. Carter, Annistyn J. Carter,
Kaitlin M. Mitchell, Khloe M. Mitchell, John Patrick
Mitchell and Jacey P. Mitchell; sister-in-law, Yolanda
J. Carter, aunts, Sallye M. Davis and Elease Carter. In
addition to his immediate family, his memories will
be cherished by: Carolyn J. Carter, Leonard Thomas,
Rodney Thomas, Catena Crabb, Dwayne Thomas,
Damien Thomas, Jeremy M. (Cornelia) Farmer,
Charlithia S. Farmer, Jaylen M. Farmer, Aiden A.
Farmer, Sari E. Farmer; special friend and caregiver,
Joyce Farmer; his best friends with whom he found
enduring loyalty and camaraderie, Charles Bagley,
Darryl Carter and George Huguley; and, a host of
nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


His passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of
all who knew him. He will be remembered for his
kindness, devotion, and sense of humor.
Anthony E. Carter’s legacy will live on through the
many lives he touched.
