Ms. Mary Francis Pittman-Winston, 95, of West Point, GA, transitioned on December 7, 2024, at her residence.
Funeral Services for Ms. Mary Francis Pittman-Winston will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. ET in the sanctuary of the Keeney Memorial United Methodist Church, 703 Avenue K, West Point, GA, 31833 with Pastor Brenda Pritchett Rhodes serving as the Eulogist.
Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery, Austin Street, West Point, GA.
Public viewing will take place on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the mortuary.
Mary Francis Pittman-Winston, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many, peacefully passed away in her sleep on December 7, 2024, at her daughter, Karen’s residence. She was born on June 6, 1929 to the late Amos Henderson Pittman, Sr. and Annie Pearl Shears in West Point, Troup County, Georgia.
Francis accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and united with the Keeney Memorial United Methodist Church under the leadership of Pastor Brenda Pritchett Rhodes.
She attended the West Point School System and was a graduate of Tenth Street High School.
In 1959, she married Gussie Winston and developed a special Bond that lasted until his passing in 1997.
Francis spent her entire life in West Point, Troup County, Georgia. Before her sister, Mattie Ruth’s passing, you would always see the both of them spending time cooking and shopping with each other. Her claim to fame was her homemade biscuits, which folks from all over came by to enjoy.
Francis was a stay-at-home mom for most of her life. She spent the majority of her time making sure her children went to school every day and keeping them grounded. Her family was her number one priority.
She was preceded in death by, her parents; husband, Gussie Winston; daughters, Jacquelyn Pittman and Gloria Wright; siblings, Mattie Ruth Evans(the late Jimmy Evans), Lonzie Pittman, Amos Pittman, II(Dorothy Pittman), Jesse Lewis Pittman.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: a son, Curtis(Tonya) Winston, Loganville, Georgia; daughters, Karen(David)Pittman, West Point, Georgia; Catherine Boyd, Chicago, Illinois, Janice (the late Johnny) Bandy, West Point, Georgia and Shirley(the late Gene)Barnes, Lanett, Alabama; brother-in-law, Franklin(the late Dorothy)Winston, Lanett, Alabama; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends; caregiver, Di’mond Winston, West Point, Georgia and special friends, Mary “Choo Choo” Stafford and Byron Ross both of West Point, Georgia
