Mr. Jerome "JJ" Johnson, a resident of Opelika, AL, died Sunday, November 24, 2024 at East Alabama Medical Center, Opelika, AL.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 12:00 P.M. (EST) on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Mountain Springs Baptist Church, 4789 Lee Road 158, Salem, AL, Rev. George E. Rampey, Pastor/Eulogist and Rev. Terry L. Magby, Officiant. Interment will follow in Garden Hills Cemetery, 1218 Frederick Road, Opelika, AL. Davis Memorial Mortuary of Valley directing.
Public Viewing is scheduled for Friday, November 29th, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. (EST) inclusive of the Masonic Rites beginning at 4:00 p.m. (EST) from Davis Memorial Mortuary Chapel.
Mr. Jerome Johnson, son of Mrs. Charlene Kelley Johnson and the late Mr. Willie Clanton Johnson, was born March 11, 1965 in Chambers County, Alabama.
At an early age, he confessed Christ and united with Peace and Goodwill Baptist Church in Waverly, Alabama where he attended until his death. He was also a faithful attendee at Mountain Springs Baptist Church in Salem, Alabama.
“JJ”, as he was affectionately known by family and friends, was a graduate of the LaFayette High School (Bulldogs) Class of 1984. He was a standout athlete in basketball and softball at LaFayette High School and in other leagues within the area. He enjoyed making people laugh, watching wrestling, Gunsmoke and the best football team in the world—“ALABAMA”.
“JJ” was currently employed at Interface Flooring in LaGrange, Georgia. He was a hard-working individual who exemplified the word—a good work ethic. He was a member of Fairfax Masonic Lodge #876 (PHA) in Valley, Alabama.
He was preceded in death by: his father, Willie C. Johnson and his brother Willie Frank “Teenie” Johnson. On Sunday, November 24, 2024, he departed this life with a smile on his face at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Alabama.
Our beloved Jerome “JJ” leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife, Angela Magby Johnson, Opelika, AL; one beautiful daughter, Phycilica “Trish” Finley, Waverly, AL; one grandson, Master Landon Finley-Williams, Waverly, AL; his mother, Charlene K. Johnson, Waverly, AL; three sisters, Joyce Carwell, LaFayette, AL, Teresa Nelson and Shantell Johnson both of Waverly, AL; two brothers, Randy (Carolyn) Johnson, Valley, AL and Ernest Lavell (Eva) Johnson, Waverly, AL; seven aunts, two uncles; mother-in-law, Marlene Magby, Valley, AL; father-in-law, Andrew Butler, Jr., Cusseta, AL; two brothers-in-law, Terence (LeChelese) Magby, Jacksonville, FL and Darius Avery, LaGrange, GA; sister-in-law, KaShundra (Eric) Brewer, Opelika, AL; numerous aunts and uncles; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, including close friends, Byron Harris, Urelles Finley, John Webb, Bishop Calvin Daniels and ReCarlis Howell.
