Obituary For Harold Toles Jr.

Mr. Harold Toles, Jr. of Lanett, AL, transitioned on Monday, July 15, 2024 at his residence.

Harold Toles, Jr. was born on December 3, 1941 to the late Harold and Marie Toles, Sr. in Troup County, Georgia. He departed his life on Monday, July 15, 2024 at his residence in Lanett, Alabama. At an early age, Harold accepted Christ and joined Ebenezer Baptist Church in Lanett, Alabama where he periodically played the piano.

In 1959, Harold graduated from Lanier High School. Following graduation, he acquired the Toles Service Station in West Point, Georgia and was a self-employed Brick Mason until his retirement. He was the owner of "Toles Green Machine" softball team and enjoyed playing 3rd base on his baseball team.

Harold was married to the late Betty Jean Sheperd Toles for 46 years and to this union was born two beautiful daughters, Melanie and Melinda.

In addition, to his parents he was preceded in death by three siblings: Rose Maree Little, Tyrone"Stuff" Toles, and Robert Antonio Toles.

Harold's memories will forever be cherished by his beloved daughters, Melanie Thomas, Tuscaloosa, Alabama and Melinda (Tyrone) Nation, Birmingham, Alabama; four grandchildren: Ean Nation, Trey Nation, Antwan Nation, and Elissa Nation all of Birmingham, Alabama; four sisters-in- law, Annie Ruth Shaw, Temple Hill, Maryland, Louise (Ben) Vincent, Bloomington, Minnesota, Maryann (Eddie Hugh) Williams, Lanett, Alabama and Dora Askew, Valley, Alabama; two brothers-in-law, Lewis (Peggy) Sheperd, Lanett, Alabama and Aaron (Mary) Sheperd, Stone Mountain, Georgia; a special niece, Tabatha (Carl) Lawrence, Fairburn, Georgia and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins - especially, Godfrey and Barbara Greenwood and Shirleye Greenwood, and many devoted friends, especially the "Checkers Buddies" - Deacon Willie
"Bo" Dunn, Deacon Johnny "Radio" Hill, Deacon Vernon "Tilo" Holloway, Aaron "Ekmo" Ross, The County Commissioner Charlie Williams, Sr., Deacon Charlie "Hook"
Woody, Coach John T. Woody, and Tommie "Boole" Woody.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, July 22, 2024 at 11:00 a.m ET in the sanctuary of the Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1006 N. 10th Avenue, Lanett, AL, 36863 with Dr. Jesse Walker, Pastor, Eulogist and Rev. Richard L. Morgan, Officiating. Interment will follow in the Ft. Tyler Cemetery, Austin Street, West Point, GA 31833.


Public viewing will held on Sunday, July 21 from 2:00 pm ET until 6:00 pm at the mortuary.
The family will received friends on Sunday, July 21, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:000 at the M. W. Lee Mortuary.
