Dolores Darlene (Salvant) Laughran, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on June 13, 2024, after a long, brave struggle against Parkinson’s Disease. In her 78 years, Dolores walked this earth with a heart full of humility, her life a testament to the reverence she held for God's grand tapestry of creation.
Born in Virginia, Dolores graduated with the Class of ‘64 from Granby High School and earned her Licensed Practical Nurse degree shortly thereafter. She would maintain her nursing license for over 50 years, practicing extensively in Virginia, Mississippi, Florida, Louisiana, and Georgia, in both hospitals and physicians’ private practices.
Throughout her life, Dolores embodied the values of grace, decorum, and tradition. She was a founding member of the Old Noonday chapter of Georgia’s Cobb & Cherokee counties for the Daughters of the American Revolution, a passionate researcher of family history, and a longtime enthusiast of travel, the arts and culture.
A woman of deep spirituality and traditional values, Dolores cherished her family and her friends, cultivating relationships with the same care and devotion with which she tended to her beloved home and garden. She is survived by her husband, her two daughters and their spouses, her granddaughter and step-grandson, a brother and his wife, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to celebrate Dolores's life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at New Liberty United Methodist Church, 17 Thompson Mill Rd., Braselton, GA 30517. The family invites you to join them in remembering a beautiful life marked by profound faith, love, and compassion. Attendees are welcome to wear colors other than black.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation (https://www.parkinson.org/).
We give thanks for the time we were given with Dolores, and while we grieve her absence, we take solace in the knowledge that she is at peace with her Creator. In her memory, we are reminded of the sacredness of each day and the bonds of love that unite us in this world and beyond.
