Michelle was born and raised in Chicago,
Illinois. Michelle was an only child born to Jeanette and Arthur Whitaker, raised by Jeanette and Sam. Michelle joined Christ at a young age at Gospel Temple Baptist Church in Chicago, Illinois.
Michelle later then relocated to Seale, Alabama in 2020. Michelle
attended Charles P. Caldwell Elementary School and graduated from
James H. Bowen High School in 1987.
Being an amazing housewife and mother was only one side of her. She
loved to travel and have a good time. Some people know how to have a
good time, but Michelle was the good time.
Michelle had a magnetic personality. Those who knew her would say
she was truly authentic. To the children she was the authority you
needed in life and still so sweet as the cakes she baked. You could say
she was like the fish she fried, firm on the outside and warm on the
inside. She started her first job at Kham and Nates shoe store. Michelle
then worked at Leo Burnette and the Board of Education in Illinois,
where they were all amazed by her hospitality.
She took pride in the kitchen and you could taste her culinary love
at every family gathering. Michelle had the gift of bringing people
together. Everyone who came into her home was sure to receive top-
notch hospitality. Not only artistically inclined in the kitchen, she
loved to decorate. She had a keen eye for colors and a true aesthetic
touch. She never gave you short, she always put her special touch on
everything. To be loved by her was to be loved incredibly.
And with all the things she was, her greatest achievement was the love
she gave to her family. A beautiful and respected mother to her kids
who will cherish her always. An amazing life partner to her husband. A
family that will never be broken because love like that last forever. We
don’t say goodbye, we say see you later.
Many things will be missed of Michelle: her laugh and smile is at the
top of the list.
The list of people she leaves to cherish her are husband, Steve; son,
Curtis; daughter, Janee; son, Steve; mother, Jeanette; father Arthur;
step-father, Sam; mother-in-law, Eddie Mae; father-in-law, Eugene
(preceded her in death); in-laws: Crystal, Brenda, and Fredrick; brother,
Sammie; sister, Aldine; sister cousin Sheryce; special aunts: Angela and
Aunt Nora; best friends, Renee & Derrick; and a host of other cousins,
aunts, uncles, and special friends.
The Staff of Carter Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the End-of-Life Care of the late Mrs. Michelle A. Whitaker - Hough.

Missing you my dear sweet Sister Michelle. My Aquarius Buddy. We have shared so much laughter and some tears. Whether we were side by side or miles apart, we were always connected at the heart. The bond we shared was unique and true. It was truly special to me and you. You were braver than you knew, Stroger than you believed, and loved dearly by many. It's so hard to believe that you're gone. I will forever miss you and cherish you in my heart forever. Love You Always, Your Sister, Aldine Harris
