Obituary For Brent Allen Jones, Sr.

SSG (RET) Brent Allen Jones, Sr. passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at the age of 71 in Germany. He was born on August 3, 1951 to the late Sam Jones, Sr. and Flossie Willis in Columbus, GA.

The Memorial Service for SSG (RET) Jones, Sr. will take place on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Main Post Cemetery in Ft. Moore, GA with full Military Honors.

SSG (Ret.) Brent Allen Jones, Sr. 71, was born August 3, 1951 in Columbus, GA to the late Flossie Jones Peoples and Roy Parker. He departed this earthly life on June 6, 2023 in Aschaffenburg Germany.

He was preceded in death by his parents and only brother, Phillip Marlowe Jones.

SSG Jones grew up in Fredrick Douglas Apartment and attended elementary and jr. high school in the Phenix City Public School System. He was a 1969 graduate of Bel Air High School in El Paso Texas. He returned to Phenix City in the early 70’s and enlisted into the United States Army in 1973 with an MOS of Communications Specialist and retired honorably after 21 years of service in May 1994.

Throughout his life he was both artistic and athletic. He was a certified lifeguard, excelled in football and track and field, and because of his excellence in boxing he was dubbed “Knockout Jones” in Wurzburg Germany from 1975 to 1977.

After retirement from the military, SSG Jones went to college and received his BA in Fine Arts from Jacksonville State University and an associate degree in Science from Gadsden Community College.

He developed a passion for art at the age of 7 and in his later years after finishing his formal education, he moved to Germany and turned his passion into career, by having art shows and exhibits throughout the Aschaffenburg and Frankfurt Germany area. He also taught Art Basic to the local Germany children.

Still cherishing and remembering him are one sister, Donna Perkins, Atlanta, GA; 3 children, Mr. Brent Allen Jones, Jr., of Frankfurt Germany, Mrs. Tarra Brenae Grimes (Marcus) of Cataula, GA and Mr. Carter Allen Jones of Anniston, AL; 10 grandchildren, Dameon, Serena and Kaydin Jones all of Frankfurt Germany, Kalee Bailey (Justin) of Buffalo, NY, Trevon Jones of Atlanta, GA, Matarri and Priella Grimes both of Cataula, GA, Riley Jones, Bralien Brown and Marzz Jones all of Anniston, AL; 1 great grandchild, Nael Jones of Frankfurt Germany and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
