Mr. Jeannie "Gene" Lias passed away Saturday at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 78 years old. Born in Russell County, AL, Mr. Lias was the son of the late London, Sr and Anna Tarver Lias.
Residing in Columbus most of his life, he was employed at Phenix Mechanical Contractors, Inc for over 20 years. He was a faithful member of the Cooper Creek Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by five siblings, London Lias, Jr, David Lias, Hosea Lias, Ruby Bualice, Carrie Lewis and Reese Lias; brother-in-law, David Harvey, Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Jeannie Mae Lias; two sons, Terry Lias (Erica) and Gennie R. Hall (Stephanie); one daughter; Tracy Lias-Bailey (Herman); ten grandchildren, five great grandchildren; two brothers, Albert Lias (Annie) and McDuffie Lias (Claudia); one sister, Earlie B. Brundidge; five sisters-in-law, Christine Lias, Juanita Harvey, Cynthia Cross, Gloria Richardson, Jacqueline Harvey (George); three brothers-in-law, Jarrell Harvey, Albert Lewis, Sr. and Sherman Moore; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Lias will be conducted One O'clock PM Friday, June 16, 2023 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 5450 St. Mary's Road with Brother Potiphar Alexander officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park.
Visitation will begin at 2:00 P.M. Thursday with the family receiving guests 5:30 til 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
