James David Miles was born in 1942 to Ceaphus James Miles and Mary Lucy Walker Miles in Norfolk, Virginia. He is one of four siblings: Ruth Elizabeth Walker Cotton (Timothy), (survived by): Joanne Black (Charles), and Carol l Miles Riddick (Lewis).
He is survived by his life-long best friend of 66 years: Richard (Jessie) Linyear. He is survived by his children: Ramon (Lisa) Estevez, Emily (Craig) Bjorndahl, David Martin and Michael Miles, his 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
James grew up with his siblings in Norfolk, VA and with his Uncle George in Charles City, VA as he became school-age. He met his lifelong best friend, Richard (Jessie) Linyear at age 14 in school. He went into the army at age 18 where he worked as a medic, mostly serving in Germany. He had many other jobs growing up as a hard-working young man. He retired from the Norfolk Coal Pier with Norfolk Southern Railroad. If you knew him, you know if you got started on a conversation about the railroad, you would be there for a few more hours.
He was an avid baseball fan and even played with local leagues growing up in Norfolk and Charles City, VA. He later belonged to a motorcycle club in New Jersey and was given the nickname "Cochise".
He was baptized in 1973 when he married his beloved wife, Lourdes Estevez on November 14, 1973 where they began a long life together serving Jehovah with their four children and enjoying their older years being grandparents and great grandparents. He always loved working on cars and fishing. His Aerostar van and old boats will forever be a part of our memories of him.
