SSG(Ret) Herbert M. Fisher of Columbus passed away Wednesday at Piedmont Midtown Medical Center at the age of 91.

Born in Danville, IL, Mr. Fisher was the son of the late Katherine March Fisher. He retired from the US Army after over twenty years of service. An Entrepreneur while living in the State of Washington, he owned several businesses, retired from Tacoma School District and then moved to Columbus. A devout member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church, he was a member of the Deacons Ministry. An avid outdoorsman, he loved to fish and hunt and was a honorary lifetime member of the Brown Hunting Club. Other than his mother, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Cochran Fisher and two sons, Levy Lewis and James Lynn.

Survivors include a devoted daughter-in-law, Jean Lynn of Columbus; three grandchildren, Tony Ware (Renee), Joyce Thorn both of Tampa, FL. and Deborah Lynn of Atlanta, GA; three great grandchildren, Becky Thorn, Kennedy and Tony Ware II all of Tampa, FL; and a host of other relatives and friends.

SSG Fisher will be laid to rest with full military honors at Green Acres Cemetery on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 following an Eleven O'clock AM Homegoing Celebration in the sanctuary of Liberty Hill Baptist Church. Pastor James G. Davis will officiate. Service will be live-streamed (see clickable link below)

Visitation is 1:00 til 4:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.
