Born in Belhaven, N.C. on July 19, 1944, SSG Garnett was the son of the late William and Lottie Taylor Garnett. He was a 1962 graduate of the Belhaven High School and obtained an Associates Science degree from Troy State University in 1992. He retired from the U. S. States Army following 20 plus years of dedicated service. He also retired from Civil Services at Ft. Benning, GA, and was a Modern Free Mason. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Barbara Wilson Garnett; and six siblings.
Surviving with cherished memories, include: his daughter, Dianna Garnett; one sister, Hattie Hopkins (Earnest); five brothers, Lee Garnett, Wilbert Garnett, Herbert Garnett (Rosemary), Robert Garnett (Lula) and Carl Garnett (Bernice); and a host of other relatives and friends.
The Homegoing Celebration for SSG Garnett will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2022 at the Progressive Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rosemary Garnett officiating. Service will be live-streamed (see clickable link below)
The interment will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 7, 2022 at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery.
Visitation is Friday, 3 til 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
