Sister Annie Mae Washington was born on March 20, 1921 to the union of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Stevenson Sr. Sister Washington accepted Christ at an early age and joined the New Mount Silla Missionary Baptist Church. She was honored with an appreciation plaque for 49 years of faithful service. She moved to Montgomery, Alabama with her daughter, but continued to have love for New Mount Silla Baptist Church in her heart. Mrs. Annie Mae Washington was a graduate of Rebecca Comer High School. She attended teacher training school for a short time and used her gift in the New Mount Silla community. Sister Washington was united in Holy Matrimony to Deacon Theodis Washington who preceded her in death. She was blessed with the love for five sisters: Flora Hillary, Fannie Bush, Alma Cochran, Nettie Pearl Sellers, and Cecila Dorsey, four brothers: Fred Stevenson, Charles Stevenson Jr, Clifton Stevenson, and Howard Stevenson. All of her siblings preceded her in death.
Sister Washington leaves to cherish in her memory one daughter, Joan Dixon (Jessie J. Dixon), three grandsons, Jessie L. Dixon (Moniki), James L. Dixon (Kidada), and Jonathan L Dixon (Tosha). She has five great grandchildren, Trinity Dixon, Jailyn Dixon, Tyler Dixon, Terra Dixon, and Asten Dixon; a host of nieces, nephews and friends who were dear to her.
The Staff and Management of Carter Funeral Home are honored to support the Washington, Stevenson and Dixon Families with End of Life Services.
My deepest sympathy during such a trying time. Death was not a part of God's original purpose for mankind. At John 5:28,29 those resting in the memorial tomb of God's memory will be awakened in the resurrection. As you reflect on these promises I pray you find needed comfort among family and friends.

I did not know Ms. Washington very well, but I have known her daughter Joan Dixon since the early 80's. I know she had to be a very sweet person to have raised a daughter so caring, sweet & thoughtful. My condolences and prayers are with the family. GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
