Mr. Day, known and loved as "Hammer" 59, slipped away to eternity, Sunday, June 6. 2021 at the Bullock County Hospital.
Employed as a Correctional Officer with the Alabama Department of Corrections, Vernon touched the lives of several residents in our community.
He will be long remembered as a die hard fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide.
The Commemoration of Life will be shared as a public visitation Saturday, June 12, 2021 from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.
A Time to Be Born Vernon B. “Hammer” Day was born December 5, 1961, to the late Henry Bell, Sr. and Alice J. Penn Jones.
A Time to Serve Vernon gave his life to Christ at an early age and joined the Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church in Union Springs, AL. Vernon retired from the Bullock County Correctional Facility after many years of employment.
A Time to Die Vernon answered the call from God on Sunday, June 6, 2021.

(Freddie) Jones, Tuskegee, AL; sisters and brothers, Andrea Day, Tuskegee, AL, Sean (Brandy) Day, Birmingham, AL, Donzell (Lynn) Day, Atlanta, GA, Yulonda Parker, Union Springs, AL, Terrolyn (Wayne) Bender, Columbus, GA, Henry (Leigh Mills) Bell, Jr., Milton, MA, Lynne and Henry Bell, Providence, RI, Robert and Kyle Bell, Cranston, RI, Ken (Maraquel) Bell, Leander, TX, and Luke (Maria) Greene, Lilburn, GA; aunts, Wilma J.
