First Sergeant Retired Joseph Stanley Young, Sr. transitioned home peacefully Saturday at St. Francis Hospital. He was 63 years of age.

A son of the late Hugh S. and Christine Moreland Young, Sergeant Young was born in Polk County, GA and was a 1975 graduate of Rockmart High School. He was a United States Army Veteran of 26 years who was also the owner/operator of Joy Design.

Survivors include: his wife of 40 years, Mrs. Lucy Ross Young; two sons, Joseph Young, Jr. and James T. Young (Carlisa); a daughter, Camela; three grandchildren Tyron Middlebrooks, Jr. Taneisha Middlebrooks and Jayla West-Young; four sisters, Theresa Arrington-Young, Susanne Young, Angel Young, Takashia Young and Tonya' Horne; a host of loving nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

The Homegoing Celebration for First Sergeant Young will be held Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 2:00 p.m., Graveside at Evergreen Memorial Park with Bishop Franklin Porterfield officiating. Service will be live-streamed. (clickable link below)
