Adelle Freeman, was born the second child of seven to Mr. & Mrs. Maymon (Minnie) Freeman on August 24, 1933 and she parted this earthly life on December 25, 2020. She was educated at St. Mark School and the Lutherville School, were she graduated. She then furthered her education at Clark College (Now Clark-Atlanta) and graduated from Fort Valley State College with a degree in Education/Home Economics.

She accepted Christ at the age of ten and joined St. Paul C.M.E. Church, Lone Oak, GA. It was there and through her parents, that she fell in love with servicing the Lord. In everything she did, she tried her best to represent Jesus. As she grew, so did this servanthood mentality within her. As she taught in various School Systems in Georgia; from Oglethorpe County, Elbert County, Manchester, and Henry County, she was known for more than just a teacher. After teaching for seventeen years, she felt God calling her to a new adventure as a Social Worker for the Clayton County Senior Citizens and Childcare Department. For nineteen years she worked diligently taking care of the seniors citizens, the Pre-K and Childcare program, and reaching out to the community with employment opportunities. She finished her occupation with The National Caucus and Center on Black Aging (NCCBA), with nine years of finding occupation for low-income seniors.

She loved letting her light shine so others could see the glory of God, especially in the church. In the 1960’s, she joined Andrews Chapel United Methodist Church in Jonesboro, GA. She served faithfully at Andrews Chapel as an Usher, Youth Coordinator, Young Adult Coordinator, Council on Ministries Chairperson, U. M. Women, Finance Chairperson, Family Ministries, Mission & Outreach, Christian Education, Sunday School Teacher, and Organizer/Chairperson of the Summer Camp Program. In 2013, she went back to St. Paul C. M. E. Church as an affiliated member and continued to let her light shine. She also allowed her light to shine within the American Union Relief Society (AURS). An organization which her grandfather founded to empower the African American community in the 1900’s. She served as it’s Vice President (presently) and Secretary and also helped organized a Summer Camp with them. She loved working with kids and teaching them the ways of the Lord.

On December 17, 1963, she married Lonnie Freeman, Sr. and to this union God blessed them with five sons; Sherman, LaVictor, Barry, Lonnie Jr, and Roderick. She would always say that she was so proud of her boys and how they became men.

She was preceded in death by her parents (Maymon and Minnie), husband (Lonnie Sr.), three brothers (Harold, Vallee, Alfred), one sister (Marilyn Harris), two sons (Sherman and Lonnie, Jr.). She leaves to cherish her memories three sons LaVictor (Curlyn), Barry, and Roderick (Sabrina); two sisters (Linda Postell and Beverly Ball), two sister in-law (Louise Hutcherson and Dorothy Freeman); three brother in-laws (Robert Freeman, Felex Harris, and Stanley Ball); eighteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; two God-daughters (Tara Smith and Arletha Meadows); a special sister (Willie Mae Harden); a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

She leaves this message for all who knew her: “Only what you do for Christ, matters! Therefore do right by others and God will do right by you!”
